Welcome to this survey investigating composing in secondary schools. This survey is being conducted by Kirsty Devaney, Birmingham City University and Annette Ziegenmeyer, Wuppertal University. The purpose of the infomation below is to inform you about the research so you can decide if you would like to take part.
What are you researching?
We are trying to capture what composing teaching and learning is taking place in secondary education. The purpose of this to produce a comparative study between England and Germany.
Will what I say be confidential?
All of the things you tell us will be stored safely on one of our work computers, and only the research team will have access to it. Your personal and school name will not be asked and we will ensure all details are kept anonymous. Any printed or published materials which may arise from this survey will be fully anonymised. Cookies, personal data stored by your Web browser, are not used in this survey.
Participation of the survey is voluntary and you may choose to withdraw at any point.
At the end of the survey you may choose to leave an email address to be contacted in the future. This is optional and your answers will still remain anonymous in any of the research documents and reports.
The research will be kept in line with the current data protection legislation - GDPR 2018. Data will also apply to Birmingham City University's standard operating procedures for research compliance.
What are the benefits?
We hope that this research will inform ongoing composing practice in schools, raise awareness of the importance of composing in formal classroom music education, and add to the limited research on composing pedagogy.
What if I want to end the survey?
Participation of the survey is voluntary and you may choose to withdraw at any point by clicking off the survey. Any data you give up until that point may still be used unless you contact us through the email below and stipulate the removal of the data.
